Noonday Farm, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to build a better world starting with what we eat and how we live. We believe that food is a basic human right and donate over 90% of the organic produce and eggs from the farm to local families affected by hunger and poverty.
Yes, we are still here and ‘growing’ strong! Noonday Farm turned 30 years old in May of this year and in September, 2013 officially became a 501(c)3 nonprofit tax-exempt organization. Hurray for Noonday Farm, Inc.!! This was done in partnership with Mount Grace Community Land Trust, securing donations and loans to purchase the farm from Haley House, placing a Conservation Restriction on the property and establishing a wonderful Board of Directors. We continue the foundational work of Noonday Farm arising from the spirits of Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin by caring for the Earth, tending gardens and hens which produce amazing life-sustaining vegetables and eggs and offer these gifts freely to people affected by hunger and poverty.
Often one hears that the ecological problems of today are the result of there just being too many people but we feel that is not the case. Humans are absolutely necessary to the World’s evolution but we have to figure out a more right relationship with the Earth and with all her creatures great and small. This begins with hands getting dirty, really dirty with faces pressed close to the ground where one begins to see and feel the magic life in the soil which begets our own lives and, well, a whole new horizon of possibility stirs in the imagination.
This is the beginning of a new journey for Noonday Farm and we are inviting you to join us in whatever capacity you would like to. We welcome you to come for a visit. We welcome your ideas and suggestions. And, we welcome your financial support to establish on site and local educational programs; to meet the basic needs of the garden season; for on-going farm building and equipment maintenance; and to envision a future structure for classes and community gatherings. Give us a call and we can share more. Thank you for all your love and support and for all you do to make this a really good world for all!
